In 1987 Kelly & Brenda purchased the vineyards and winery from the family corporation. Kelly is the fifth generation of Baxters to be in the grape growing/wine production business which was started in 1857 by his great great grandfather. Kelly is the viticulturist and Brenda is the general manager and chief winemaker.
Brenda is one of four local business people who are working to bring back the blue cheese industry (a 67 year old Nauvoo tradition) to Nauvoo. Nauvoo Cheese Incorporated will feature a tourist friendly cheese making viewing room along with a museum The group plans to use the buildings next to the winery for the manufacturing of blue cheese.
Kelly and Brenda are both life long residents of Nauvoo and have one daughter Kim who married Jerry Orth on June 18, 2005 and they reside with Brenda & Kelly in Nauvoo, IL. Kelly works part-time away from the vineyard/winery and Brenda devotes all her time to the winery and promoting Nauvoo. Brenda currently serves on the following committees:
