Baxter’s Vineyards, the oldest winery in the state of Illinois, is a small family winery located in the historic town of Nauvoo, Illinois. The winery was established in 1857 by Emile and Annette Baxter. Today, the Baxter’s Vineyards continues within the same family with Kelly Logan and his wife Brenda. Kelly is a part of the fifth generation of Baxter’s to grow grapes and apples and make wine in Nauvoo.

Baxter’s Vineyards offers complimentary tasting and self-guided winery tours daily from 9 am to 5 pm Monday – Saturday and Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm. January – March, we have shorter Sunday hours – from 12 noon to  5 pm.

The winery is located 11 blocks East of Highway 96 on Parley Street, going through the Nauvoo State Park, if you are traveling to Nauvoo from the South. If you are traveling from the North, turn left on Winchester Street until you reach Parley Street, make a right hand turn and Baxter’s Vineyards will be on your left.

Baxter’s Vineyards is also home to Carol’s Pies & Nauvoo Nibbles; inside the tasting room at Baxter’s Vineyards, you fresh, whole pies are available for purchase along with a variety of sweet breads. In addition to the tasty pies and breads, Carol’s Pies has recently expanded and also carries bulk foods and snacks.  Carol’s Pies & Breads are made, baked and sold exclusively at Baxter’s Vineyards and are the best homemade pies in town!

Located directly across the street from Baxter’s Vineyards is the Nauvoo Grand Bed & Breakfast, Nauvoo’s only luxury accommodations, managed by Innkeepers Brenda Logan and Kim Orth. The Nauvoo Grand was the former home of Cecil & Eleanor Baxter, members of the second generation of Baxter’s in the wine industry. Take a step back in time and enjoy a getaway with us!
